• Academic conference, in science and academia, a formalized event where researchers present their results in speeches, workshops or by other means
• Business conference, an event organized to discuss a pressing issue
• Conference call, in telecommunications, is referred to as a "multi-party call".
• A conference room is a place where conferences are held.
• International conference, in politics, a multilateral diplomatic negotiation or a Party conference
• In Christianity, a conference is a series of meetings to discuss topics related to the church.
  • A Methodist or Catholic Conference is a formal meeting of church leaders.

• Football Conference, in English association football, consists of:
  • Conference National, the fifth tier of the league system
  • Conference North and Conference South, which together form the sixth tier
• In college athletics
  • List of college athletic conferences, in the U.S.
  • Canadian Interuniversity Sport
